Perimenopause & Menopause

Although the age a woman will experience menopause varies, it typically occurs during her late 40s or early 50s. However, symptoms of menopause can begin before menstruation stops, and many women begin to have symptoms in their late 30s that can last into their 60s and beyond.

During the perimenopause a woman’s body can change in different ways. As oestrogen levels fall, their periods may become irregular and/or heavy and they may lose their fertility. Other physical changes include higher blood pressure, changes in cholesterol levels (increasing risk of heart disease) and losing calcium from their bones (raising the risk of osteoporosis). Other symptoms of the perimenopause can include weight gain, hot flushes, night sweats, irritability, poor concentration, more frequent headaches, and joint pains. These symptoms are mainly due to falling oestrogen levels and can last for just a few months or for several years. The range of symptoms and how severe they are, is different for each woman.

During this transition, diet plays an important role in minimising the symptoms brought on by menopause. In addition, specific nutrients can help offset some of the increased health risks associated with menopause. Women approaching menopause or in menopause need to provide their bodies with the proper nutrients needed to function optimally. But because of hormonal changes during and leading up to menopause, their nutritional needs change.

Whilst BOMIMO fully supports the use of HRT where it has been medically advised, many women prefer a natural approach to mitigating the unpleasant symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, mood swings, sleeplessness, night sweats, and memory lapses. Incorporating supplements into a woman’s daily routine alongside of taking HRT, can help to address these symptoms.

The MenoShake includes plant-based proteins, added soluble fibre, a complete multi-vitamin/mineral complex, herb/botanicals and additional nutrients for weight management that support healthy blood sugar, blood pressure, and lipid levels, promote lean muscle mass and blood vessel flexibility, and enhance thermogenesis (fat burning). The ingredients have been derived from natural colours and flavours, they are GMO free, dairy free and soy free.
